Our cataloguer uses a basic pen barcode reader. It's cheap and does the trick.

Almost any barcode reader is compatible with Inmagic software. The first question to ask is, what barcode symbology do you plan to use? (EG Code 39, which is one of the most popular) Then you need to know if the reader will read that kind of barcode.
