Hello:
How do people deal with permanently deleted records from the catalog textbase. We have a record type for "Inactive" records (i.e., serials for which we retain holdings but are no longer active subscriptions). We also have serial and other records that are permanently deleted. We would like to retain information on these previously held titles that are now permanently removed from the collection (along with the notes as to why these decisions were made). Do people create a parallel database of DELETED records and copy these records over before deleting? We currently protect our textbases using network-controlled access rather than passwords but how do people feel about restricting access to certain types of records (e.g., DELETED records). Your thoughts would be appreciated. Regards, Becky |
