Has anyone else experienced problems with MARC Transformer after upgrading to the most current version of DB/TextWorks and DB/Text for Libraries? When I try to get the software to interact with my catalog, I get an "error type 2" message.

I don't know of any type of technical support for the MARC Transformer. Does anyone else use a different but similar type of software that does have technical support available?

Hi Tammy

Inmagic, Inc. has recently alerted us to an incompatibility between MARC Transformer and DB/TextWorks Version 8.0. Due to changes that were incorporated into DB/TextWorks in the most recent update, MARC Transformer is no longer able to access the field structure of textbases that were created in DB/TextWorks Version 8.0, or that have been updated using that version.

This means that you cannot make a new map, or add tags for fields that were not included in an existing map.

However, existing MARC Transformer maps can be accessed and edited to the extent that you may change the MARC tag mapping to any existing field in the map. You will see an error message: “The DB/TextWorks file <name and path of textbase> is unusable. Error type 2 was encountered” when the Modify Map button is selected. Click OK and the Map definition dialog will open.

If you need to make a new map or edit an existing map, the work around solution is to have access to a DB/TextWorks version 7.01 textbase with the same structure. Your local dealer may be able to assist you with that.

MARC Transformer is produced by a third party software company.

Hope that helps!

The MARC Transformer has been a very important part of my cataloging system. It is not feasible for me to set up two DB/Textworks versions in order to get the MARC Transformer to work.

I am very disappointed that InMagic would have created a software upgrade that no longer works with the MARC Transformer software. Up until the time of the last software upgrade I was happy with the software's performance. Now I am left with a really big problem, and no reasonable way to solve it.

Hello

Is the MARC Transformer still for sale?

I left messages for two regional and one headquarters InMagic sales reps last week,
but can't get a response.

What is the cost of the software?
