I would like to set some more password levels in our database. I have read the "Restricting access to fields" section, as well as "Specifying record-level security" however I'm still confused.
Specifically, I would like to create a password which would restrict access to records based on certain values in the "order type" field. (E.g. full access for some to "Requested", limited access to some staff for "Approved" or "On order."
However, do I need to add a new field to the database first? What field would this be and how would it be populated every time a new record is created? Would people have to fill it in when creating new records?

I am also interested in preventing some users from using a few of the script buttons on a new menu I am creating. Is there any way to set this up?
