Apologies in advance for a long post. I've just created a new textbase and want to display one image for each record. My textbase is in one folder and the images are in a subfolder and I appear to be doing everything correctly. Some images suddenly started disappearing.
We're scanning with a 'digital sender', which can send in tiff or pdf formats, but it scans 8.5 x 11, so that you wind up with a photo up in one corner and blank white space. I wanted to crop the image so it fits in the DB/Text picture box better. But the picture disappears because DB/Text now thinks it's corrupted. The "Show Record Images" feature in DB/Text is where I finally found out what was going on. It says the file is ‘corrupted’, even though the photo shows up fine everywhere else. It’s only ‘corrupted’ in DB/Text. I've tried cropping with Microsoft Photo Editor and Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and the file always comes out 'corrupted'. Adobe PhotoShop Elements won't open the tiff at all, and says the tiff file contains an unsupported color space. I think it means the tiff uses RGB, but I'm not sure. The photos are fine to view, it's just that DB/Text won't show them. Why is DB/Text so offended by the editing programs? Anyone out there having trouble editing and cropping images? Any thoughts on how to save this project? Many thanks. |
