All,
We did the upgrade today, and all the data is there and I can add records with no problems, except one. I'm getting very strange behavior from some of the substitution lists - they're just not substituting on a kind of a random basis. The lists are still there and populated, but the shortcut keys are just not triggering the proper replacements. Any ideas? Dan PS One other odd behavior - when I F3 the field during data entry, I'm not getting a plain list, but the Substitution List itself is appearing in the popup window |

For me, the substitution doesn't occur if the code to the left of the colon in the list is a single character. If the code is 2 characters or more, the substitution works.
I haven't seen the issue you describe in your PS. |

This is what we received from our supplier...
Think we are going to hang fire until Inmagic have come up with a fix for this. Further to the recent release of DB/TextWorks version 11, Inmagic have notified us that clients may encounter the following issue and as a result, Inmagic are working on a fix for the problem which will be included in the next service pack for DB/TextWorks v11. Problem: If you use single letter values to populate a substitution list field within any of your DB/TextWorks V11 text bases. Example: My substitution list contains: E: Email Tel: Telephone Typing E: Error occurs as 'Email is not inserted. Typing Tel: substitution list should work correctly by inserting Telephone into the field) This problem only exists if you have single letter substitution lists. Solution: Either type the full entry into your field, Or modify your substitution lists so that they use two letters or more. To modify your substitution lists select: Maintain > Edit Lists > SubstitutionLists > select the appropriate list > the use the change button to alter the list entrys. |

Well that's dumb. It's worked fine in every release prior to this, what did they suddenly change to screw this up?
The whole point of the substitution list is to simplify life - why would I want to start editing the list just to edit it back again after the fix? Yes, I could save the old one & repopulate, but I still have to remember that my new list is in effect temporarily. I'm sorry, Inmagic, normally I'm happy with the upgrades, but this was a goof. Not earth-shaking, but let's get this fixed quickly, huh? |

Inmagic will be releasing a DB/TextWorks 11.0 Service Pack 1 in 2-3 weeks. The service pack will include the fix for this substitution list issue.
