I know there are limitations on the text boxes (you add too much it doesn't scale the text box to the amount of text), but I was just wondering if it is possible to sidestep this?

No, I don't think it is possible. But even if you don't see all of the text you can use 4000 characters (spaces included) in the query.
Sometimes I have needed more than this amount of characters in a question, so I think it would be good if the limitation of 4000 characters was taken away.
