I have a couple of databases with a master password. This morning when I tried to log in to either of them, I got a message saying that the Silent password was enabled. Didn't ask for my master password or anything. I'm the one who set these up and administers them, and I didn't think we'd even installed a silent password. At any rate, how do I reset this to just ask for my master password? Thanks.
I searched the forum but did not see this problem addressed. |

Choose Tools>Options from the menu.
In the Passwords group on the General tab, select "Always prompt for password" from the drop-down list for "Primary textbase". |

Thanks, Lisa--I finally did figure that part out. Just don't know why it reset like that, but at least I can fix it now! Thanks again.

This setting, along with most other Options, is stored in your INMAGIC.INI file in your UserFilePath. (The UserFilePath location is specified in your registry.)
If your INMAGIC.INI file got renamed or deleted or your user file path changed, that could explain why your option setting got lost. Or, someone could have edited the structure of these textbases to enable the Silent Password. (If you have a current version of DB/TextWorks, the log file would show when this happened and who did it.) If none of those occurred, I'm as mystified as you. |
