I can't seem to be able to select really large fields from the database. I am using the ODBC Driver(server) for DB/TextWorks using ASP on IIS 5. I can get smaller fields no problem but if I try to select a field that has a lot of text (I think it's around 10000 chars) the ASP page seems to freeze. I used to get an error so I ran the DBSTATS utility again, apparently some bigger fields have been added to the DB, DBSTATS set some values in the .INI file but it still doesn't process the page. If anyone knows how to overcome this I'd realy appreciate it.
Thanks Peter |

Hi there polesiuk
I encountered a similar problem, where any field length above 8191 characters specified in the INI file would crash IIS4 as soon as you tried to access the page. IIS5 is certainly more resilient, so it may well be that it "merely" freezes the page. We've had a bit of a discussion about this on this forum before, and breeding was very helpful, and came up with some suggestions. However, although we do have some IIS5 boxes I just haven't had the chance to get back and look at this issue yet. Perhaps you could have a look at his suggestions and see if they're any help. Let us know how you get on. Previous thread: http://support.inmagic.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000008.html |

Just an update...I haven't worked on this yet and will not for a little while still. When I get the chance to I will try some of those suggestions.
Thanks Peter [This message has been edited by polesiuk (edited 25 February 2003).] |
