This behaviour may just be an oddity with version 4, and one that can't be changed, but it is frustrating (both 4.03 & 4.1).

I had 500 odd records that I transferred from my catalogue into another database, where I am cleaning them up. From one author field I have created 2 separate fields and copied the authors in twice. As I knew that many of the statements now in the 2 Author fields would need changing I accepted overrides (as there is a validation on them). Most of these authors are being modified (but not the same modofications in each field) and therefore will be added to the validation list when asked, but some are okay, and I can't seem to get them into the validation list without manually opening the list each time. As I have to do this for both the author fields it's getting a bit much. If it's just one of those things, I'll reload the author field in afterwards and add them to the list then!

I'm afraid I don't understand the problem... Nothing has changed with the way validation lists are edited in version 4.x. Everything is the same as it's been since version 1.0.

You should be able to use Edit Lists>Validation, select the desired field and add as many entries as you like. Or use "Merge File into List" to import a list of authors you want to add.
