Hello!
Anybody knows why the automatic number jumps numbers from time to time? Who can be fix? |

The Automatic Number would only "jump" if:
- Someone deleted records - Person A chose New Record, Person B chose New Record, Person A closed the Edit: New Record window without creating a record. To "fill in" the missing numbers, you'd have to either: - Change the field to be a Plain Number field and create records to fill in the "holes." - Create a new empty textbase, and import the records into it. This would resequence all the Automatic Number values. |

Thanks for the quick answer.
The second option is impossible (because we use those automated numbers as topographic signature, so if we do it then we have to re-label all our items... more or less 4000!!!) The first option was my first idea (after reading the manual), but... it's a safe option? didn't that crack the whole database? |

It is safe to change the field to a plain Number field (it doesn't even try to reindex), fill in the "missing" numbers, then change the field back to an Automatic Number field.
However, it's always a good idea to back up your textbase before performing an operation like this. |

Thank you for your time, the explanation and the confirmation.
