As an addendum to the apparent memory leak problem noted in my previous post, I am encountering very significant Form Designer performance problems when working with forms of any significant size. For example, on one form with 111 script boxes, 55 form boxes and 14 text boxes, Form Designer is taking up to one minute+ to apply changes (move, resize, change label text, etc.) to a single form item, or to insert/copy/paste a new form item. And upwards of 10 minutes to move a group of 6 script buttons the first time and *exponentially* longer for each successive move of a group of script buttons. I notice that when applying the changes, DB/Textworks accounts for 98-99% of CPU usage.
I notice that another user encountered similar problems with DB/Textworks v.6 ("'Design Form' very slow to apply changes," posted 23 Oct 2003). Any thoughts on what is causing this? Here are my system specs, for what they're worth: OS: XP Home, SP 2 CPU: Pentium 4A, 2.266 MHz RAM: 512 MB (DDR SDRAM) Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 (64 MB) Storage: 120 GB, 50+ GB free |
