Looks like I have to reply to my own bugreports...

Thanks to a tip from the InMagic email list, I have found a way around this.

By putting a space in the "If empty use:" field of the Box Contents form, the fields will never be empty. Fortunatly this does not upset my layout, though I'm sure for others it could cause problems.

I hope this has been fixed in 4.2
