I just changed from a computer running W2K to XP, and we have CS 9. Previously I could click on this link:

file://I:\SpecialCollections\Photos\Still_codes.wpd

and it would launch WordPerfect and display my document. Now...I click on the link and nothing happens.

Previously I could click on this link:

file://M:\SciTech\Images\STA-2005-02-apl.pdf

and the Adobe Reader launched and displayed a doc; now, nothing.

If I change my links to UNC paths, they work. Why can't I use mapped drives any more?

I suppose the mapping differs on your local computer and the server.
Are the mapping realy made again on your server. I suspect that you, as you moved from W2K to XP haven't mapped the XP server itself so it can't find the directories under I: and M: because the mapping don't exist on the server.
