I wasn't sure where to post this question.
Has anyone ever tried to use InMagic products to create a Library Patron Self-Checkout system? A system where a person would be able to scan their library card, then the barcode for the book they wish to borrow, checking out (or in) the book themselves? I know I have heard of other software that can be used to do this. Just didn't know if the InMagic software can be set up like that as well. Thanks. |

Inmagic Genie version 3.20 supports self-checkout, and self-renewal, but not self-checkin.

We have done this at our firm using CSTextworks. Our library catalogue is linked to our circulation, circulation history and library borrowers databases. Users self checkout items using the desktop version of the software. When other users search the catalogue on the Intranet via webpublisher they are able to see if an item is out and to whom.
