Hello, I have a problem when publishing my website on the remove server, the Word Wheel just wont work, it shows me a java error message, however, in my local testing server it works fine.
thank you for any help. JP PD: I don't use the new InmagicBrowse button, because it only works from time to time and it is very slow! |

JP,
You don't say what browser you are using nor what version of WP. I have had Word Wheels working very well with both Firefox (latest version) and IE7--until today, when I suddenly realized Word Wheels don't work on Firefox any more (no error message, they just come up empty). They still work on IE7. I updated to the latest version of Java very recently, and I suppose that's what broke it, but only on Firefox. It's so frustrating! Zoe |

Hi Zoe, I am using Webpublisher v.10. I have it running on IE but only in my local testing server, in the remote server it does not work. Firefox had not worked for me since I installed it.

I asked Inmagic support about Word Wheel issues and here is the response I got:
Inmagic has discontinued the use of Word Wheels and recommend the alternative option Choces Browse. Please see below information for more details. Inmagic Word Wheel requires use of a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and works best with the Microsoft JVM. However, Microsoft no longer provides the JVM. Existing installations should not be affected if Word Wheels are already operational. New and upgrading installations may be affected if the operating system does not include the MS JVM. DB/TextWorks v8 and later, WebPublisher PRO v8 and later and Content Server 1.3 and later provide a recommended alternative to the Word Wheel. It is called Index Browse which is NOT dependent on nor does it use the MS JVM. Here is what you need to do: - Open the query screen in the designer (click Search>Design Query Screen). - Right click the query box, select box properties, then the HTML tab. Next to the box labelled "Index box, use:", select Choices Browser button, Choices Browser link, or drop-down list. - Save the query screen and export it to HTML. ---- Comment from Zoe: I liked the Word Wheel more than I like the Choices Browser (I don't really like the look of the Choices Browser button). Andornot has an alternative index browser called "Index Popup" that looks interesting that we may try. |

Hi Zoe, I received the same response. Although the InmagicBrowse worked fine for me it suddenly stopped working, I fixed it, and again it stopped working. I have tried the Andornot Choices Browser, it looks fine, but the free version has some limitations.
