Hi,
Does anybody else find that when they do a search that includes fields from the primary textbase and also fields from a secondary textbase the search is painfully slow? My primary textbase has 152,000 records and the secondary has 78,000. Sometimes my searches take 5 minutes or more to complete. Or is that normal? Thank you, Zoe |

What kind of search are you doing? If you're doing a phrase search, you might want to try adding/updating the following section to the INMAGIC.INI in your UserFilePath.
[Advanced] OptimizedPhraseSearch=1 You want the search on the secondary fields to be as precise as possible. I.e., if you did the search directly in the secondary textbase, you'd want each component of the search to retrieve as few records as possible. For example, you may want to avoid truncation, large range searches, or date searches that retrieve large numbers of records. |

If you are searching a fulltext field that has a lot of text (eg. you imported the fulltext of documents that are dozens or hundreds of pages long) I always find it slow to search across all the records.
You can opt to search the fulltext field alone and not include it in an all fields search. That way search is only slow if the user decides to search the fulltext field. |

Craig, I am on Content Server 10.
CDale--I'm doing a variety of different kinds of searches. JennM--no, that does not apply in this case. |
