Is it possible to hide a catalog record in the OPAC but not to staff in Genie v. 3.2? We'd like to catalog certain items for admin purposes only but don't want them viewable to patrons.
Thanks,

you should be able to do a hidden search on your OPAC search screen.

for example add a field to Genie called' opac only'
add it to your opac search screen with the entry ishidden=true and set a default value of 'Yes' to the search box. and enter yes in all the fields you want users to see and no for ones you don't want them to see.

Check out the below doc:

Craig,
Thanks for replying. If I understand you correctly, you seem to be talking about hiding or not hiding fields in a record, not hiding the record itself. I guess another way to describe what I want to do is this:
I want to filter out all records that meet certain criteria (i.e., location=staff medical library) so that those records cannot be found in the OPAC. I've looked at the Tech Notes and can't find anything to this effect. Am I misunderstanding?

Sorry, maybe need to be clearer.
If you have your opac do a hidden search (opac = yes) then users can enter additional search criteria, without knowing behind the scenes your only allowing them to view records which has opac=yes in the catalogue record.
Then by hiding that hidden search criteria it prevents those records being returned.

Hope that makes sense....
