Has anybody upgraded from Genie 2.0 to 2.1? We are planning our upgrade, and I can't tell from the documentation how the data from our routing lists (SerRouteList in serials) will be mapped to the records in the borrowers database. It makes absoulute sense to have this field be a link, but since our existing formatting in SerRouteList is "11-firstname lastname" (where 11 is the floor) and the BorrName field in borrowers is formatted as "lastname, firstname" I suspect we will end up with a big mess! Any suggestions?
Unlike the 1.2 to 2.0 upgrade, the data in your textbases isn't changed during the 2.0 to 2.1 upgrade. (You have to change some field types from Computed Date to plain Date, and add a field to the structure, but the data itself isn't changed.)
If you didn't have problems in 2.0, you won't in 2.1. However, the [Browse] link on Routing List boxes on Serials edit pages will show the names in the Borrower textbase, not your SerRouteList validation list.
I would have expected you to have problems in 2.0 (and thus also in 2.1) if you used the "Send e-mail routing notice" link on the Edit Serial Record page. Genie wouldn't be able to retrieve the corresponding Borrower records for the user names in the Routing List box to populate the To field with the e-mail addresses.
We haven't used that function (the email routing notice) so it hasn't come up. I'm guessing we'll have our library assistant change the routing list entries to delete the old validation list entries and add links to the borrowers' records.
