Hello,

I'm a Microsoft nut because they are soo user friendly. Because of this, I've become accustomed to their menu systems and other user friendly stuff (double clicks, right clicks, ect.). If I may, I'd like to suggest that InMagic make their programs more user friendly. A good first step is in DB Textworks form designer. All of my suggestions apply to DB Textworks.

When I'm designing a form, I would like to simply double-click on an object and have the property box open up. It would greatly improve the workflow.

Also, throughout the entire program there are to many pop-up notifications. Like "your opening an empty database", and other pop-ups. I think if there was a status bar, or an information bar across the bottom of the screen you could display alot of the information that is in a pop-up in this information/status bar.

Another point to mention is the menu system is not intuitive. When I first started out I never really knew where things were in the menus. As an example, the 'maintain' menu could easily be under the file menu where it makes more sense because you are modifying the file structure. There are too many first layer menus when they could easily be incorporated into a second level menu system.

Ok, that's all I've got right now. I'll continue to post my ideas since I think the program is great, just needs a really good tune up on the user interface side. Ok, one more thing - and this is really serious, I've heard alot about it - more documentation. I've been working in the program for over 3 months and I still have no clue where to go for help (besides the forums) for a specific problem. The documentation also reads very very badly. It sounds like a programmer wrote the documentation, or somebody else with no english skills. The help needs a really good overhaul.

Ok, that's it for now. Thanks for listening though!

Rob D.

Note that you can turn off the "Your textbase is empty." message using the Options dialog box.
