Can anyone give me some ideas on troubleshooting a Word 97 Document that the spider cannot convert?

Its about 250kb and has lots of field codes and some custom document properties. All of which might be a concern except we have another document (234kb) with very similar attributes that converts without a hitch.

The spider log only says: "Error converting document". I'm wondering if there's any more error details to view or if there's any obvious things we could try looking for in the offending document.

What is the date on your VS*.DLL files in the DB/Text Intranet Spider installation directory?

If it's in 1997, you might want to contact your local dealer about getting a newer version of the Microsoft Word filters.
